Hey Everyone! My name is Sam and I am so excited to be joining the USC Admission Blog! I’ve been working in the office for almost four years now and have worked with Houston, Austin, San Antonio and the central coast of California since I started. I’m from SoCal and attended Calabasas High School before going to Nashville, TN for college. At Vanderbilt, I double majored in Spanish and psychology and then came back to LA and did a masters in social work here at USC.
I was really involved in the admission office at Vandy (that’s what the cool kids call it, I promise), and dabbled in graduate school as well, so pursuing college admissions as a career was always on my mind. In addition to being able to contribute to higher education with a great group of colleagues, I love working with prospective and current students. My theory is I stopped growing up at around age 16, but it is also possible kids these days are just super cool.
I hope to bring an honest and authentic perspective to the admission blog and help people see that your admission counselors really are just like you, whoever you are. I have no doubt that whatever topics I cover there will be personal anecdotes thrown in there (and probably cat pictures) but also hope to provide insight into what is a very human process. Thanks for reading!
